safety-contraindications. Notoginseng is contraindicated in pregnancy; caution is warranted with blood-thinning medications and in hormone-sensitive conditions given its estrogenic activity, and reported side effects include dry mouth, flushed skin, insomnia, nausea and rash.

antiplatelet-antithrombotic. Panax notoginseng saponins inhibit platelet activation, adhesion and aggregation through multiple pathways, preventing thrombosis and improving microcirculation.

coronary-vasodilation. Notoginseng has been shown to dilate the coronary artery and increase coronary blood flow, thereby providing more blood to the cardiac muscle, while reducing cardiac load and lowering arterial pressure in humans.
