action. Chaparral is anti-inflammatory, lowering leukotrienes, prostaglandins, histamine and leukocyte activity, an effect largely attributed to lignan-mediated lipoxygenase inhibition.
dose. Typical dosing: tincture (1:2-1:3, ~75% ethanol) 0.5-1 ml or 20-40 drops three times daily; leaf infusion 1-2 tsp per cup two to three times daily; infused oil or salve applied topically as needed.
